For the ‘underdogs’

Have read stories about struggling artists, how they have to face rejection after rejection, how they are told to get more exposure first, when no one is willing to give them that exposure in the first place anyway. Which is why, am recommending a band I don’t even know (Farewell Fighter) instead of John Mayer, despite the fact that I loooove John. Not that I’m going to support every struggling Tom, Dick and Mary band out there, but Farewell sounds like a really good band. John’s already made it, and his star doesn’t look like its waning.

I think its important to give a leg up to the ‘underdogs’, if they’re deserving, that is, though its debatable who exactly is deserving or not. Anyway, here’s to Farewell Fighter, may your dreams come true, and to John Mayer, may you continue to shine.

Still can’t get over how John Mayer uses his guitar to speak of incredible yearning, loneliness, sensuality and despair in this song. Never fails to make my heart give a startled, painful leap. Ok, ok, maybe it doesn’t actually leap, but it gives a pretty good impression of leaping.

What is it about music that it speaks of feelings that mere words can’t even begin to say?

First

Saw John Mayer extolling the virtues of Tumblr on his blog, and hey, whatever the guy pushes has to be good, right? Okay, now I sound like a ditzy fan. Anyway, here’s me trying it out. Don’t know if I’ll like it. Just testing the waters.

Sleep-deprived, swamped with work, bad smoker’s cough, badly needing a manicure, and yet… I don’t know if it’s just me, but the lure of putting oneself out there, even if its through something that probably won’t be noticed by most, is strong. Guess it feeds my ego.
